There will be a small conclave for faculty and students on the philosophy of Arne Naess with visiting scholar David Rothenberg. Naess (1912-2009) is generally considered one of the most important philosophers of the twentieth century for his contributions to Phenomenology, Philosophy of Science, Environmental Ethics, Philosophy of Language, Experimental Philosophy, and other areas. Rothenberg studied under Naess in Norway in the 1980s and together they produced Ecology, Community, Lifestyle (Cambridge University Press, 1989).
